Tubasolist Øystein Baadsvik turnerer over heile verda og har spela på scener frå Melbourne i Australia til Carnegie Hall i New York.
No her er han her – som mentor i “Meisterklasse”. Solotubaisten Øystein Baadsvik inviterer tubatalenta Ingunn Hammerseth frå Sarpsborg og Sebastian Lamberg Torjusen frå Rosendal til Trondheim. I tre dagar jobbar dei fram mot ein stuntkonsert på studentområdet Dragvoll. Kva skjer med spelet til talenta når dei har verdas mest kjende tubasolist som lærar? Og kjem vi alle til å digge tuba etter dette?

Om serien
Klassisk musikk blir tatt ned frå scena og ut i det fri når Noregs klassiske meistrar blir personlege trenarar for unge, store talent. Sju klassiske stjerneutøvarar vel seg kvar sine to unge talent og inviterer dei til i tre dagar med intens jobbing. Korleis er det å spele når den dei beundrar mest av alt høyrer på? Og kva med å spele konsert på ein stad du ikkje veit om før du bokstaveleg tala står på scena – eller jernbanestasjonen – eller skipsverftgolvet – eller kor det måtte være?Meisterklasse sine læremeistrar er Leif Ove Andsnes (piano), Øystein Baadsvik (tuba), Martin Fröst (klarinett), Tine Thing Helseth (trompet), Henning Kraggerud (fiolin), Solveig Kringlebotn (song) og Truls Mørk (cello).

Norwegian national TV (NRK1) has just created a new TV series called Meisterklasse, or Master Class in english. Seven teachers, Leif Ove Andsnes (piano), Øystein Baadsvik (tuba), Martin Fröst (clarinet), Tine Thing Helseth (trumpet), Henning Kraggerud (violin), Solveig Kringlebotn (song) and Truls Mørk (cello) are followed when coaching young talents during three intense days. It all leads up to a surprise concert on an unusual place.
The episode on Sunday Sept 23 is dedicated to the coming tuba stars Ingunn Hammerseth and Sebastian Lamberg Torjusen.

Tuba solist Øystein Baadsvik is touring all over the world and have played on venues from Melbourne in Australia to Carnegie Hall in New York. Now he is here – as mentor in “Meisterklasse”. Øystein is inviting the tuba talents Ingunn Hammerseth from Sarpsborg and Sebastian Lamberg Torjusen from Rosendal to Trondheim. During three days they are working towards a stunt concert on the campus Dragvoll. What will happen with the talents playing when they have the worlds most famous tuba soloist as a teacher? And will we all dig tuba after this?

Last week’s Asia Tuba Euphonium Festival at the Chinese University of Hong Kong featured around 50 players from Norway, the United States, Korea, Japan, Thailand and Taiwan. The bell of the tuba fell off (!) while I walked off the stage in Canada yesterday. In front of a horrified audience I chased the bell as it bounced over the stage. I managed to grab it just before it rolled over the stage edge. Incredibly there was no damage to it. Not even a small dent. Solid german quality from Miraphone!
Backstage, my friend Lance Nagel immediately awarded me the No-bell prize 😂
Must remember to tighten those screws next time...
